Miami ISD is located in Roberts County. Miami ISD is the only school in the county which has 924 square miles. The district serves Pre kindergarten through the twelfth grade. There is an average of 12 students per class. We have 21 teachers and one principal. The district received a Exemplary Rating from the Texas Education Agency.
Miami Elementary students are challenged with Accelerated Math and Accelerated Reading. The students go to a computer lab every week and have access to wireless computers to use in their classrooms. We offer dual enrollment classes for sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Students that take dual enrollment classes receive credit for high school course and college courses. We have had students graduate with 30 college semester hours. Miami ISD realizes the importance of technology; therefore, each high school student has a laptop computer to use for the school year.
Our students are active in football, basketball, track, cheerleading, golf, tennis, FFA, 4-H, and FCCLA. We have NHS, yearbook, and student council as well.
Miami ISD is the ninth wealthiest school district in the state based on student population. The district has a Maintenance and Operation tax rate of $1.04 and an Interest and Sinking tax rate of $0.03. Miami ISD will send 85% of its local tax base to Austin to be redistributed to other districts in the state.
