On December 19, the Miami Chapter of National Honor Society traveled to Amarillo for a service project where they visited the Ronald McDonald House. The Ronald McDonald House is a non-profit organization that has houses all around the country. These houses are used by families and parents when they need to be close to the hospital where a child is being treated. The house is a much appreciated convenience for families who cannot afford to stay in a hotel, especially for weeks or even months at a time. The NHS members brought toys and games for the families to use in their free time as well as cleaning supplies and food items. Ideas for items donated came from the Ronald McDonald online wish-list. After visiting and touring the Ronald McDonald house, the NHS members finished up the trip by eating and shopping at the mall.
