On December 19, the Miami Chapter of National Honor Society traveled to Amarillo for a service project where they visited the Ronald McDonald House. The Ronald McDonald House is a non-profit organization that has houses all around the country. These houses are used by families and parents when they need to be close to the hospital where a child is being treated. School finance in Texas has been a hot topic in Miami since 1993 which was the inception of share the wealth or Robin Hood. Roberts County tax payers have sent $62,003,443 to date in the state’s attempt to equalize wealth. The school district has been involved in two previous lawsuits against the state because of school finance. The current school finance law does not adequately fund school districts in Texas.
