Here we go again the 2007-2008 School year is off and running. So far it has been another great year with the students of Miami ISD.
This year for the first time there is another official Tech person to do the bulk of the computer "fixen". I will have a couple more classes as a result of this.
My classes will be:
6th Grade Keyboarding
High School Keyboarding
BCSI
Computers
and
Monitoring the Foreign Language Classes
Almost all, (if not all) students have their own lap top now. We think we have all the bugs out and they are working nicely.
My students will do almost all of their work at school on the computer in the classroom. The Computers Students will be writing computer programs and may have some homework, but it will be minimal.
The computers class room is somewhat less structured than most class rooms. We do some group work and have to get up and move around at times. All I ask of students is that they work hard on projects and Be respectful of Me and others and take care of the equipment. Students will not be expected to take a computer home for my classes. If there is homework it will be in a book to be done on paper with a pencil.
Computer students will learn a little bit of BASIC, PASCAL, and JAVA computer programing languages.
High School Keyboarding will, first make sure the student can type, be learning how to use Microsoft Office.
6th Grade Keyboarding will teach all students the correct way to type and the correct fingers to use while typing. We will also learn 10 key at the end of the year.
BCIS Will follow the Business Computer Information Systems book. We are working on learning more and more about Microsoft Word right now.
