Miami Art students recently completed a unit on Linoleum block printing. Linoleum block printing is a printmaking technique in which a sheet of linoleum (sometimes mounted on a wooden block) is used for the printing surface. A design is cut into the linoleum surface with a sharp, V-shaped gouge, with the raised (uncarved) areas representing a reversal (mirror image) of the parts to show printed. The Hunger Games definitely affected all of us, myself included. I hope the kids enjoyed the books and the projects they did. The pictures are of the dioramas and pictures the kids put together in response to the book. There were also 2 sets of poetry and 2 videos that were produced along with these.
